Good to be back.....

ive been neglecting this blog a little latley i say a little more like a lot to be honest...i blame not having enough time although i must admit i had started to forget about my little blog until a recent university project reminded me of how much i enjoyed writing and getting things off my fashion clutterd chest!!

but im sat here thinking what to write then i think to uni for some kind of inspiration..its got me thinking about what we discuss in marketing about dove...yes dove inparticular doves campaign for real beauty. This campaign interests me as im quite synical over the matter, i'll explain....
Yes i think its great that companys are using fuller figured women in the media as apposed to the size zero skeletal models were so used to being blinded by in the fashion and beauty industry, but looking into this campaign further is it just focusing on the fact that body image is such a big issue in society and capitalising on this to aid sales and profit??!
At first i thought no that doesnt seem right but after reaserching in to unilever the company that owns dove i found that they also are responsible for the production and promotion of the product lynx, the image below shows doves definition and spectrum of 'real beauty' maybe what they could also say men find attractive yet the women shown in the lynx adverts are size 8 models! i think its a case of double standards and telling consumers what they wish to hear and see in order to increase sales! Also dove is a part of the beauty industry palming women off with various products to in some way improve and change themselves...if in fact dove truly believed women are fine just the way they are then why i ask is the need to produce such products.
Althought there is a positive that comes in the form of doves self esteem fund, focused on saving the next generation from being bombarded with unrealistic images and beauty stereotypes after browsing the website http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.co.uk/#/cfrb/selfesteem/ i started to appreciate what dove were trying to acheive with this and im in full support of it even if im not as certain on the doves CFRB! i suppose i'll do the same as everyone else and wait to see if doves efforts pay off..!

everyone ♥ 's Gok!

right now watching goks fashion fix i cant help longing to have a little pocket gok sat on my shoulder whispering little fashion secrets in my eager ear for those days my mind cant seem to function!! as the titles roll and every time i hear gok say ''many women buy clothes they wont even wear''i cant help thinking that's MEEE! i mean when i think of the money i waste on clothes sat festering in the cupboard i nearly choke on my Gucci's!!
i admire the way he shows women of all shapes and sizes what looks good on them as well as showing them examples of what doesn't, it may be called goks fashion fix but it defiantly isn't a 'quick' fix he doesn't just show them how to dress there 'bangers' and jobs a gudden,he gives them tips to help them when goks long gone looking for another clueless damsel in distress!!
his customisation of high street finds encourages people to mix it up, don't just wear something off the peg, something a zillion other people will also have purchased customise and make it individual is a message gok enforces each programme as he transforms his bargains from the high street to detailed, designer inspired pieces!!
he really does prove ''you don't have to spend a fortune to look a million dollars''
so i say hurrahhh for gok!! long may his fashion reign continue!!! ♥

Feeling floral ♥

Nothing spells spring time more than fresh, vibrant flowers so no wonder there hitting the runways this season, from all over prints to flower inspired designs spring fashion is definatly feeling floral!!

designers such as, gucci, prada, balenciaga all showed in 09 with floral prints the main featuredianne von furstenburg also accessorised her models with floral head bands to match the bohemian vibe she created with her floaty spring/summer collection.
how to wear the look:
DONT over accesorise,if wearing a busy floral print keep accesories to a minimum
DO wear smaller prints if your petite
DO wear you hair up to keep focus on the print.
DONT be afraid to clash floral prints, can look great if done right.

whats the deal with harem pants??

this season we saw the revival of the harem trousers, most people think these are a new concept but they were actual seen in the 80's its a fine line between them looking like oversized nappys or a smart casual trendy trousers!

but can everyone wear these?! i doubt it to pull these off you have to know how to dress the look, make the trousers match the rest of your style to avoid it looking like 'i know these are fashionable so im gonna wear them' make them suit you and your individual style!!

i also see these trousers often in jersey, this is a very casual look trying to dress these up really wouldnt look right, try a pair in cotton with a low waist and tapered leg( i grabed a nice pair for £3o from topshop!bargain) these can be worn with heels or flats with a slouchy tee tucked in and maybe a blazer over top for a cool look that could easily be carried on to night time chic!perfect!!

but what does everyone else think?? should these 80's wonders have stayed in the past or are we welcoming the revival of the harem??!

personally im all for the genie like style! done right of course :)

heres a couple of my favorites.....

these volumous pair are from ralph lauren, this shows how the harem can look casual yet smart! slouchy not slobby!!

i also like the 3/4 length leg (great if height is not on your side) as they help to make the legs look longer although always wear with heel the higher the better!!

great pairs are also avaliable from the highstreet with TOPSHOP,ASOS.COM, RELIGION,URBAN OUTFITTERS being amongst my favorites!

heres a pair i love from french connection (avaliable to buy from ASOS.COM) for £28!!!!!!!

prime example of how to harem trousers can look stylish!

lets talk about fashion!!

sooooooooo okay this is the first blog i have ever done so here goes..

firstly why i decided to create a blog??! well i love fashion, i love watching it talking about it pretty much everything really, my friends can only take so much of me so i decided to tell you guys what i think about fashion and to hear what you all think remember sharings caring :) i also have a keen interest in journalism so i suppose bloggings not a bad way to start right?!

im gonna really talk about what im seeing on the catwalks as well as whats hitting the high street, whether theres something ive seen and HAVE to buy or something sooooo ugly ive gotta rant over it!! im gonna be writing about it, sounds good??? hope you all follow me with this..also please feel free to tell me if you've seen something we all need to discuss whether its hot or clearly not!!!!

lets start!!

something that's been bothering me lately is the weather!!anyone else had this? waking up every morning having the weather decide what we should wear!! this is never right it shouldn't dictate what we have to wear for the entire day, scared that if we leave without a coat we'll look like some kind of drowned rat caught in a monsoon or this can completely flip and leave us hot and bothered in a big monstrosity of a cover up as soon as the weather decides to perk up!!

so ive been thinking how can we avoid this situation??! without resorting to a pack-a-mac which are as hideous as much as they are practical!!

i dont know about anyone but i call it summer its may damn it i will get my sandals out,i haven't painted these toes for nothing right!! but im struggling as to what type of sandals i should be strutting around in this 'summer' (if u could call it that) you see im rather short so i find this difficult, anyone else?!
look at these beautys to the left! gladiators are back this season, no one hit wonder!!
as gorgeous as they are can every one pull them off? or are these simply for the likes of kate moss amongst us!
i personally would take inspiration from the high leg gladiator and go for the ankle length version instead, I'm also a big fan of fringing this season! visit www.asos.com for some absolutely gorgeous fringed sandals as seen on Kimberly Stewart too!!!
as the weather should hopefully (fingers crossed) cheer up soon i reckon a really cute look would be to wear these with a play suit or jumpsuit! curvier figures cinch it it with a belt boyish figures can pull off more of a baggier silhouette! lots of bangles and tribal beads and I'd say job done! ohhh maybe a jersey cardigan (just in case the heavens do decide to open)
